I also avoided having my picture taken during this time because I did not much like the image that I saw everyday in the mirror. The only picture that I remember having had done during this time was the one here which was taken for the church directory in early fall of '94 and, believe me, I was NOT at my top weight at that time.
Now, here is the capper....this is what I looked like the summer of '95. Keep in mind that I had already
begun to lose weight at the time this picture was taken. I have NO pictures of me from the time of the family pictures that were taken for the church directory in the fall of '94 (which is where the previous picture originated). Also remember, I had not been near a scale because I did not want to know how much I weighed!!! (No wonder I did not like myself too much!!!)
Below are two pictures that I had taken in FEB '99. THIS is what I look like NOW. BIG difference, huh??? Suffice to say, I have lost something over 50 pounds and am now wearing SIZE 6 clothes!!! And, needless to say, my whole attitude has changed along with my image! The scales say that I weigh more than I think I should (about 20 pounds more than the last time I wore SIZE 8 clothes), but I have decided that it is NOT what the scales say that's important, but the size of the clothes that one wears!!! (hehehe)
Ok, so I'll admit, I did NOT do this all on my own! I did NOT go on a diet, per se. Nor did I undertake an exercise program (I am allergic to exercise!). My hubby found some herbal tablets which were initially intended to give me some energy. I found after I had begun to take them that they not only gave me energy, but they helped me to lose weight without conscious dieting. I did not DENY myself anything that I wanted to eat, I just did not want to eat as much as I had been eating. AND, I had sooooo much energy that I went on a two year long house cleaning spree!! Thank goodness THAT aspect has worn off!!!
Enough of THAT! Now on to something else. About a year or so after I started playing with my son's computer (and after my husband was forced to get me a separate computer to keep my son and me from commiting serious body harm to each other over having to share HIS computer) I became interested not only in creating webpages, but also in clipArt. I began collecting clipArt and building holiday oriented clipArt pages. My first such page was dr.who?'s HALLOWEEN. From there I went on to the next holiday, each in turn, with dr.who?'s THANKSGIVING, It's a Doctor Who Christmas 2 U!, dr.who?'s Santa Claus is Coming!, and dr.who?'s CELEBRATE!. These pages were originally created with borrowed clipArt that I had found on enumerable webSites as I surfed the web. You can sort of see this by the number of links on each of these pages where I have attempted to give due credit to those persons from whom I obtained those graphics.
THEN Santa Claus brought me my very own scanner for Christmas of '97. Since that time, my world of clipArt has dramatically changed and been greatly redefined! Now MOST of the clipArt that I use is graphics considered to be in the public domain that I have scanned and edited or stuff that I have created myself.
Because MY graphical creative talents are juvenile (ok, even infantile) at best, I have begun the effort to improve my skills in this direction. I have discovered the WebTech University (formerly HeartLand University). There I have found an on-line course which has taught me a number of useful things (that I had not already figured out the hard way) about using Paint Shop Pro to create web graphics for use on my web pages. There are a number of courses currently available if you are interested in expanding your own skills. And there are a number of other courses in the works that will soon be available.
The course that I took is Paint Shop Pro 101 and was very interesting. I am positive these new skills will prove to be quite useful. I am also looking forward to the next class Paint Shop Pro 201 which, I am told, is going to be available soon. I am proud to display my Diploma that I earned by completing Paint Shop Pro 101 :-)
And now...on to my latest adventure. I have gotten hooked on attending estate auctions, estate sales, yard sales, attic sales, garage sales, etc. And I have found some goodies! Depression glass (Iris and herringbone pattern, sandwich pattern for instance), old milk glass items, some sterling, some old silverplate items, various items of glassware from 10-60+ years old.
And I have also gotten hooked on e-bay! Been buying things there for some time: jewelry, old peweter, and other jewelry. Well, NOW, I have started selling some of my finer FINDS on e-bay.
And thus has come the "birth" of dr.who?'s TimeLess Treasures, a Division of TimeLordsINk. TimeLordsINk came into existance several years ago when I was actively doing some desktop publishing for friends, co-workers and employers. Anyone is more than welcome to peruse any of the items that I have up for auction. In the "near" (near, of course, being relative to TimeLords!)future, I will put up some photo's of examples of some of the goodies that I have discovered at these sales and some of the items that I have or plan to auction.
Here is a current listing of:
dr.who?'s auctions on eBay
****GREAT BURST OF TimeLess thought HERE!****Have you ever wondered why these sales are called "GARAGE" sales or "YARD" sales? The GARAGE or YARD is NEVER for sale! (hehehe...courtesy of my Dad, and probably almost every other Dad in the world!)
One of my best finds, so far, is the Crystal Iris and Herringbone footed water pitcher that you see here. This is primo Depression Glass in one of the most sought after patterns of that time. It is easy to see why this pattern remains so popular over the years with the smooth, nicely detailed tall iris blooms, stems and leaves which shine crystal clear against the vertical herringbone stripes.
I happened to stumble across this in a backyard estate sale. At that time I knew virtually ZIP about depression glass, except that a co-worker is a collector of this particular pattern and that she had asked me to keep my eyes open for a couple of footed tumblers as I attended the various garage sales. This Complete Water Set was in a box sitting under the edge of a table. Imagine my surprise when I looked into that box and there was the exact pattern my co-worker collects! She decided to get four tumblers, instead of just two!
I then listed the Water Pitcher on eBay. The person that won the auction lives less than 20 miles from where I live! As it happens, her sister had dropped a water pitcher that was to be her birthday present while washing it the day before she saw this one on eBay. She noticed right away that this item originated in her area of North Carolina. Viola! She got a replacement pitcher for a song and did not even have to pay shipping costs!
Next, I intend to list the other four tumblers. I did not realize it at first, but the four that were bought by my co-worker were the only tumblers without defects. These four all have small chips in the bases. ***sigh*** Oh, well, everything can't come up roses!!
Here is a useful and interesting link. With this you can check for "Traffic Jams" on the internet. Also, if you know what connectors that your ISP uses you can see how it is performing at any given time and for the previous 24 hour period.
To quote the blurb at the top of the Internet Traffic Report page:
The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and more reliable connections.
Also here is a link to the site "Web Attack". This page is chocked full of all sorts of downloads to help you with your internet experience and adventure. You may ask:
What is WebAttack.com?
WebAttack is a download site that provides access to thousands of Windows software titles, that are either free to keep (freeware) or can be downloaded as a free trial (shareware). WebAttack does not make any of the software! Each product is submitted by a software company or developer - a link to the developer's web site is included with every description. What WebAttack does is review and rate the software, categorize it and make it available to you.
What makes WebAttack different from other download sites?
WebAttack is one of the oldest and most popular download sites on the internet and has served many millions of visitors over the years. WebAttack was established in 1997 - AOL was at version 3.0, Windows 95 was the hottest thing going, everybody was using Netscape and nobody has ever seen web site advertising on TV.
- WebAttack downloads and tests EVERY program before listing it.
- WebAttack creates the screenshots.
- If it's not working for WebAttack, it will not be listed.
- If it appears to be a waste of your time, WebAttack won't list it...
- If WebAttack has any doubts as to the integrity of the software and/or author,
WebAttack will not list it.

To tickle your funny bone and make your day a little brighter:
Some time ago I lost my old GuestBook: I am absolutely
clueless as to whut happened to it, but suddenly I could not make connection thru the established link. Since I
could not find where they went I completely revamped a NEW GuestBook which I myself
customized. I have also included a short (well, all right, maybe not so short) survey that I hope each of you will
complete as you sign the GuestBook. If you have signed my GuestBook in the past, I would appreciate it if you
would sign again since all those entries went whatever way the old GuestBook did, hmmmmmm....now that I thimk on the matter, the old GuestBook was probably stolen by my nemesis The Master and is now lost in the fartherest reaches of the universe!!!
